Apple Expands eSims Technology Globally with Iphone 16: Why?

With the success of the eSIMs-only iPhone in the USA, Apple plans to release this feature worldwide. According to reports, the forthcoming iPhone 16 will be entirely esims compatible and this feature will be available in more countries, including most parts of Europe and Asia. This step by the mobile corporate giant will shift the way the mobile industry views eSIMs overall.

Before we get into why Apple is making this shift, lets understand what is an esim. Esim is short for embedded sims. It functions just the way a physical sim functions; it provides connectivity and access to the internet. It also comes in two plans: prepaid esims and postpaid esims. The only difference is that it is embedded into your device, it is not a physical sim that you can touch or insert in your phone.

People often change their SIM cards when they switch carrier plans or seek to use a different service provider when they travel abroad but with an eSIM travel is made easy; there is no need to change your SIM card. All you have to do is speak to your service provider, and they will do the needful.

The following are some of the advantages of using an e sim:

  • Risk of an esim being lost or damaged is significantly low: Since the esim is integrated into your phone, there is a reduced risk of theft and fraud.
  • eSIMS requires less space on your phone: With the technology of an embedded SIM card, there is no need for a separate slot which reduces the space.
  • With an esim, you can have multiple phone numbers: With a physical sim card, one phone could only have a maximum of two sim cards, but with the help of eSims, on one phone, you can have multiple phone numbers.
  • Use an esim for travel convenience: If you travel abroad often, you know that you require a separate sim card and a different service provider in every country. But an Esim can be used anywhere in the world. eSims services are focused on mobile connectivity wherever and at anytime
  • Activating an eSIM is a simple process. To activate your eSIM, you only have to scan a Q.R. code and register an eSIM profile with your mobile network. It is that convenient and simple. This simplicity should give you confidence in using eSIMs.

So why is apple so focused on making its iphone esim only international?

If you know Apple, you know that its USP is security. Since SIMs provide data security and reduce the risk of theft and fraud, and so  Apple chose to integrate this into its system.  This is especially safe for people who travel abroad frequently. Instead of connecting to an unknown free wifi, which puts your private data at risk, you can download a local and trusted travel esims app and enjoy your travels without worrying that your data will be stolen.

Since items don’t require a separate slot, they allow more space for a larger battery or any other new feature that Apple wishes to integrate into their phone. Although this might not seem like much, for a company like Apple, which is constantly trying to make its phones slimmer, this is huge.

Apple also wants to make iPhones more convenient to use. So, if you are traveling internationally, all you have to do is download an eSims travel app, and you can travel internationally without worrying about buying a new SIM card.

If you wish to activate the esims feature on your iphone, all you have go to your settings, click on mobile data, tap on convert mobile data plan and select esims. Follow the instructions that then appear on your iphone.

Apple’s global push for eSIM technology with the iPhone 16 comes with many benefits: improved security, better device design, and easier international travel. By removing the physical SIM slot, Apple enhances user convenience and sets a new standard for mobile technology. This move not only simplifies how people stay connected but also leads the way for future innovations in mobile devices. Appleā€™s focus on eSIMs highlights its commitment to improving user experience and staying ahead in tech.
